“Le Verre Y Table” in Jarnac makes its entry into the Guide des Tables gourmandes du Poitou-Charentes

The restaurant, masterfully run by Jean-Charles Boisumault and his wife Agathe, is one of five new restaurants to join the Guide des Tables gourmandes this year, which now brings together 41 independent restaurateurs, located in the four departments of the former -Poitou-Charentes, including eleven now in Charente.

This association, created in 1988, is strong in “showcasing local products and regional culinary traditions”, explains its president, Pascal Pressac, who has excelled since 2003 at the head of the Goose Barn at the Château de Nieuil. And don’t go in there who wants. The admissions process is very demanding. “Different elements are taken into account, such as presence and recognition in one of the three major national gastronomic guides (Michelin, Bottin Gourmand and Gault & Millau). » Or even the diploma of “Best workers in France” or the title of “Maître restaurateur”, which Jean-Charles Boisumault can claim. “This requirement is what makes the reputation of the Tables Gourmands”supports its president.

“Localism”

Another important criterion is “localism”, with the promotion of local products and short circuits, as the Verre Y Table does with trout from Gensac-la-Pallue, poultry from Barbezieux or beef and the Montbron calf. “We want our customers who visit our establishments to find a different identity. Going to a restaurant is not just about eating well, it’s also about quality service and a great wine list. Lots of things that make you feel good”emphasizes Pascal Pressac.

The result is a small guide printed in 60,000 copies distributed to member restaurateurs and tourist offices, where the 41 tables are listed. “We see it as a gourmet roaming. The spirit that we defend is that we are first of all colleagues, a family rich in different personalities”, emphasizes Pascal Pressac. Chefs who have been recognized for years (sometimes starred) rub shoulders with others, younger, with talent in the making.

That of Jean-Charles Boisumault is no longer to be demonstrated, he who has climbed the levels one after the other since the opening of the restaurant in 2015, after having cut his teeth with a certain… Pascal Pressac. “I knew his qualities, as a cook of course, but also human, which are very important to us”confirms the latter.

Jean-Charles Boisumault, he is delighted with this arrival at this beautiful table. “I dreamed of going there and I took the time to structure myself before applying last year”, reveals the young chef from Jarnac, who found in Charente “a very rich terroir”. “The objective now is to maintain our quality, that the customers are happy and that we are still in the guide next year! »
